EMBD Coco Road Quarry – Officially Opened!

Commencement of the sale of sand at the Coco Road Quarry

THE ESTATE MANAGEMENT & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT COMPANY LTD. (“EMBD”) announces the commencement of the sale of sand at the Coco Road Quarry from Friday 3rd July, 2020.

The operating hours for the sale of sand are between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, except public holidays. Please note that these hours may be subject to change by EMBD and if so, such change will be stated on this website and prior notification will be given as and when necessary.

The prices of the various types of sand are as follows which are exclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT):

  • Backfill Sand – $35.00 per cubic yard
  • Sandfill           – $65.00 per cubic yard
  • Red Sand        – $85.00 per cubic yard

Location of Coco Road Quarry

The Coco Road Quarry is located approximately 2 km from the Solomon Hochoy Highway heading West off the Cedar Hill Road, Claxton Bay, with visible signage on the right.  The Coco Road Quarry can also be accessed from the Southern Main Road heading East for approximately 3 km on the left via the Cedar Hill Road with the Coco Road Quarry sign visible on the left.                                                                     REGISTRATION OF BUYERS

All Buyers must register with EMBD, particularly Buyers using the Prepayment Options for Payment below (Direct Deposit and ACH Transfer). Buyers are to submit the completed Buyer Registration Form either by email to finance@embdtt.org or by hand to the EMBD Cashier Office at the Coco Road Quarry prior to the purchase of sand. PAYMENT OPTIONS AND CONDITIONS

All payments to EMBD for the purchase of sand at the Coco Road Quarry shall be paid in Trinidad and Tobago Dollars (TTD) and shall be made using one of the following three (3) payment options SUBJECT TO the Terms and Conditions listed below:

  1. DIRECT DEPOSIT:  – Buyers can make a Direct Deposit to EMBD’s designated Bank Account as stated below at any branch of First Citizens Bank. Only cash and certified cheques are to be deposited. Buyers are advised if a Direct Deposit is made by a personal cheque this will only be processed by EMBD after clearance by the Bank which can take as much as seven (7) business days.  Buyers are advised that Direct Deposits done via the “Fast Deposit Box” will be processed the following business day. If Buyers are using this Payment Option please note the Terms and Conditions for the Purchase of Sand using the Direct Deposit and ACH Transfer Payment Options below.
  • ACH TRANSFER: – Buyers can make an ACH transfer to EMBD’s designated Bank Account as stated below. If Buyers are using this Payment Option please note the Terms and Conditions for the Purchase of Sand using the Direct Deposit and ACH Transfer Payment Options below.
  • LINX PAYMENT:  – Buyers can make point of sale/LINX payments via a debit card at the Coco Road Quarry Site Office after the loading of sand at the Coco Road Quarry. Credit Card payments will not be accepted.

Cash or cheques will NOT be accepted at the Coco Road Quarry or at EMBD’s Office for the sale of sand and no credit will be granted to Buyers for the purchase of sand. 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR THE PURCHASE OF SAND USING THE DIRECT DEPOSIT AND ACH TRANSFER PAYMENT OPTIONS

  • Direct Deposits and ACH Transfers as outlined in Payment Options 1 and 2 above must be made and verified as received by EMBD in EMBD’s Bank Account BEFORE the Buyer is allowed to purchase and remove sand at the Coco Road Quarry Site.
  • Each Buyer using the Direct Deposit or ACH Transfer Payment Options must submit the following to EMBD either via email to finance@embdtt.orgor it can be submitted in hard copy to the EMBD’s Cashier office at the Coco Road Quarry before the sale of sand shall be processed at the Coco Road Quarry and before loading will be allowed by EMBD. Buyers who are Companies or who have identified more than one (1) Truck for the purchase of sand are recommended to submit the following requested information via email to finance@embdtt.org PRIOR TO sending the identified Truck(s) to the Coco Road Quarry to minimize delays:
  • A completed Buyer Registration Form which must clearly identify the Registration Number of the Truck(s) which will be sent by the Buyer to the Coco Road Quarry to purchase sand
  • Evidence of Payment to EMBD’s Bank Account namely the Bank Deposit Slip stamped by the Bank or the ACH transaction ID. The Buyer MUST state the Buyer’s name clearly on the stamped Bank Deposit Slip or ACH description field when making payment to EMBD’s Bank Account. This must be the same Buyer name listed on the completed Buyer Registration Form.

 Failure to submit the above will result in delays in completing the Buyer’s purchase of sand.

  • Following the loading of sand onto the Truck(s) identified by the Buyer in the completed Buyer Registration Form, EMBD’s cashier will issue an invoice against the Buyer’s deposit. Where the value of sand purchased is less than the amount deposited, the Buyer will be notified of their balance on their account which will be applied against future purchases of sand. Once the price for the loaded sand is deducted from the prepaid amount the sale is final.
  • Buyers using the Pre-Payment Option must immediately inform EMBD if there is a change to the Truck Registration Number(s) as stated in the completed Buyer Registration Form in relation to the collection of sand. Any additional Truck Registration Numbers to be authorized by a Buyer to collect sand on its behalf must be submitted in writing to EMBD BEFORE any sale of sand can be conducted or effected.

EMBD reserves the right to amend any of the Terms and Conditions for the Sale and/or Purchase of Sand using the Direct Deposit and ACH Transfer Payment Options at any time.  Any amendment shall be stated on this website and/or notification will be given as and when necessary.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS for SALE of Sand

  1. In these terms and conditions the EMBD means the Estate Management and Business Development Company Limited a company incorporated under the Companies Act Chapter 81:01 of the Laws of Trinidad and Tobago, its assigns and successors (hereinafter called “EMBD”). 
  2. The Buyer means the person(s) or company and his/her/its employees and agents whose order for the material is accepted by the EMBD.
  3. The material referred to herein means the sand being sold by EMBD and described in the invoice.
  4. The Buyer shall purchase and the EMBD shall sell the material in accordance with these terms and conditions.
  5. EMBD shall issue a confirmation of the weight or load volume of the material loaded onto the Buyer’s truck which shall be final and binding.
  6. The price of the material shall be the total price plus VAT as stated on the invoice issued by EMBD which shall be final and binding.
  7. Payment shall be made in accordance with the agreed payment method as reflected on the invoice and no cash or cheques will be payable onsite at the Coco Road Quarry or at the EMBD Offices for the sale of sand.
  8. In relation to a Buyer who has deposited funds with EMBD for the future purchase of material (“pre-paid payment method”), the Buyer agrees and authorizes the EMBD to deduct the total price invoiced from the amount held on behalf of the Buyer. Payment shall not be deemed to have been effected until the relevant amount has been cleared into one of the EMBD’s designated bank accounts.
  9. The EMBD reserves the title to all material supplied until all such goods are paid for in full. If the Buyer fails to pay for the material in full, EMBD shall have the right without granting a respite to demand the offloading or return of the material to which it retains title. The Buyer is obligated to offload or return the aforementioned material.
  10. The EMBD warrants it has good and marketable title to the material covered hereby. No other warranty of any kind, express or implied, is made by the EMBD concerning the material covered hereby. NO IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR PURPOSE SHALL APPLY. The foregoing warranty is exclusive and in lieu of all other warranties, representations, conditions or other terms, expressed, implied, contractually or otherwise, including, without limitation, any warranty of merchantability, suitability or fitness for any purpose, or absence of infringement of any claim in any intellectual property right covering the material.
  11. The Buyer acknowledges that it has examined the material prior to the conclusion of its sale and has approved of its quality. The material purchased by the Buyer is not returnable and the EMBD will not be liable for any claim resulting from the use of the Buyer of any improper, defective or damaged materials and no claim will be allowed on account of any Buyer for returned materials unless authorised by the EMBD in writing.
  12. The material are being sold “as is,” and EMBD disclaims all warranties of quality, whether express or implied, including the warranties of merchantability and fitness for particular purpose. The Buyer acknowledges that it has not been induced by any statements or representations of any person with respect to the quality or condition of the material and that no such statements or representations have been made. The Buyer acknowledges that it has relied solely on the investigations, examinations, and inspections as the Buyer has chosen to make and that EMBD has afforded the Buyer the opportunity for full and complete investigations, examinations, and inspections. EMBD will not be liable for any indirect, special, consequential, or punitive damages (including lost profits) arising out of or relating to the sale of sand or the transactions it contemplates (whether for breach of contract, tort, negligence, or other form of action) and irrespective of whether EMBD has been advised of the possibility of any such damage. In no event will EMBD’s liability exceed the price the Buyer paid to EMBD for the specific material provided by EMBD giving rise to the claim or cause of action.
  13. To the maximum extent permitted by Law, the Buyer indemnifies EMBD against any loss to the extent the same was caused or contributed to by any negligent or wilful act or omission of, or any breach of or failure to comply with these terms and conditions by, the Buyer.
  14. Force majeure of any kind, including civil insurrection, acts of God, laws, statutes, fire, floods, drought, unforeseeable shortages of labour, utilities including electricity supply or raw materials supplies, strikes, lockouts, acts of government or other administrative measures, orders or decrees from any court, war, terrorism, riot, sabotage, accident, epidemic, and any other hindrances beyond the control of EMBD which diminish, delay or prevent acceptance or use of the material, or make it an unreasonable proposition, shall relieve EMBD from its obligation to supply the material. Should the EMBD’s supply be limited for any such reason, the EMBD shall have the right to fairly distribute any available supply among its customers in such manner as the EMBD may determine.
  15. These Terms and Conditions of Sale, together with the Terms and Conditions for the Purchase of sand using the Direct Deposit and ACH Transfer Payment Options, the completed Buyer Registration Form and any other documents attached or referred to hereto, constitute the entire and final agreement between Buyer and EMBD with regard to the subject matter hereof. These terms and conditions of shall be governed by the Laws of the Trinidad and Tobago. The EMBD reserves the right to unilaterally modify or amend any portion of these Terms and Conditions of Sale at any time without prior notice.
